AS 2550.10, 2025 Edition – Cranes, hoists and winches – Safe use, Part 10: Mobile elevating work platforms

AS 2550.10 establishes the required practices for the safe use of mobile elevating work platforms,
herein referred to as MEWPs, including safe systems of work, management, planning, selection,
operation and maintenance.

This document applies to the use of MEWPs designed and manufactured to conform to AS/NZS 1418.10.
It may also be used for other similar equipment that does not have an applicable safe use standard.
NOTE Examples include wheeled loaders with a work platform, vehicle loading cranes with a work platform
attachment, and stock pickers.

It does not cover the specific requirements for the use of MEWPs for work in proximity to live electrical
equipment and within the no go zone specified in Clause 5.10 or other specific requirements of the
supply authorities in the state or territory of use.

It does not apply to the operation of firefighting equipment.
